Trivia:
- One of its possible original titles was "PCU Pit Party"
- PCU was filmed in the city of Toronto, and in one scene, the building referred to as "the freshman dorms" is actually the Ontario Provincial Legislature.
- Movies referenced in PCU include A Bridge Too Far (1977)and Dressed to Kill (1980)
- Zak Penn, who co-wrote the script, is seen in a cameo walking out of the Pit's bathroom (he's wearing a "PCU" cap).
- Port Chester University's motto (as seen on the school crest at the beginning of the movie) is SIC MENTEM PROBA DI REOTAMUS. Fans have speculated that this means "The more our mind searches the more we return to the roots." and "This place of learning takes it up the arse".
- The supposed date the movie takes place on is May 6, 1994, as seen on Moonbeam's complaint form.
- The Pit is located on 145 S. High Street, as seen on Tom's invitation card.
- In the scene where Droz opens up the closet to supposedly sell something to Tom, and then closes it, there is a small error. When he closes the door behind his back, the closet is firmly shut. Then in the next cut the door is cracked open some three inches for the rest of the scene.
- The film's director, Hart Bochner, does a cameo at the end of the film. You can see him between the seats of the bus (reading a newspaper) as it pulls away from Port Chester University. (thanks to Steve Murphy)
- When President Garcia-Thompson gives the Pit their damage bill, the total is $7,568... when Moles gets the money at the party, he says... "7.568 dollars... the damage money and a hundred to spare!"... which of course it isn't. (thanks again to Steve)
- When Rand MacPhereson picks up the Pit's party flyer (after the Daves drop them), he folds it once long ways, then once short ways. When he unfolds the flyers to show the Womynists, the flyer is folded twice long ways. (Steve, to the rescue!)
- PCU was made by a graduate of Wesleyan University, and is based on the school. In the opening sequence, there is a shot of the main library (Olin) and one of the residence halls (Clark) of the school, in Middletown, CT.
- Tom P. wrote in with this interesting PCU-related tidbit: "I hope that you were at least watching the Golden Globes (way back in, when was it, February?) when Michael Caine presented Gene Hackman with the lifetime achievement award."
The following is pulled from the actual 1994 PCU press kit:
- Soundtrack: Fox Records
- Paul Schiff, producer: "The only way for an eighteen-year-old to survive the baffling complexities of college life in the nineties is to maintain a sense of humor. PCU is about the war between humorlessness and humor. We hope humor wins out."
- Paul and screenwriters Adam Leff and Zak Penn satarized their own college in this movie - Wesleyan University in Middleton, Connecticut.
- Penn: "This is an *exaggerated* view of contemporary college life, which in itself approaches the surreal in its insanity."
- Shot on the campus of the University of Toronto, utilizing the grounds and buildings from the law library to Kings and University Colleges, with the climactic bicentennial scenes shot on the university grounds.
- The exterior of the Pit was an enormous Tudor mansion, formerly a private estate and now a Canadian Military Staff College.
- Unique items found in the main Pit room: a vintage 1955 Buick bumper with the Pope as a hood ornament on the wall overlooking the TV corner, a terrariam filled with plastic dinosaurs, a twenty foot-high palm tree (which was originally slated for rehab school in Florida).
- Jeremy Piven is lifelong friends with fellow actor, John Cusack (most recently seen together in "Grosse Ponte Blank")
