  • The Pit

Formerly known as Psi Kappa Mu, the Pit came into existence after the school banned frats in 1967. They are a group of non-conformists, relishing individualism over group identification.

The one common link that binds the Pit together is their hatred for the PC squads that have taken over the campus. Their unconventional lifestyle turned most of the groups against them, as well as the Establishment (headed by President Andrea Garcia-Thompson). Their numbers have dwindled to a mere nine members, but are always one the lookout for more.

A major crisis hit when they were forced to raise $7,568 for damage bills or else they'd be kicked out of the house (a scheme devised by a combination of Pres. Thompson and Randall MacPhearson). Rather than to enter the workforce (and who in college wants to?), they threw the grandaddy of all parties to raise the cash. And the rest, as they say, is history. . .

    James Andrews (aka "Droz")
    Year: Senior
Favorite Quote: "Don't be that guy"
    Phallis Knickname: Mr. Pokey
    Played By: Jeremy Piven
Droz, the unofficial leader of the Pit, resides in the Hole (ie, the basement), room 2. An enterprising individual with a taste for partying, he runs a smuggler's racket (selling term papers and the such), dating vicariously, and enjoying his position in life. He is the epitome of the invincible college student, taking all things in stride and never giving up. Persuasive speeches are his forte, as are most of the famous quotes of the movie. He has attended PCU for 7 years (Droz mentions that he had 3 sophomore years), but was slated to graduate in May '94. His best friend is fellow senior Moles, who he once pulled a rather nasty prank on while coming back from a trip to Jamaca. He formerly roomed with Rand, who's opposing living styles set them as arch-enemies. For a short period he dated Samantha, but they broke up and she joined the womynists (although we are not sure why). His favorite beverages are beer and coffee, and smokes cigarettes on a constant basis.

    Mullaney (aka "Moles")
    Year: Senior
Favorite Quote: "Now we're even for the milkbones"
    Smokes: Cigars
    Played By: Alex Désert
Moles, Droz' right-hand man, is the single black in the Pit. Not that he cares or anything, for individuality suits his style just fine. He's the most laid-back of the bunch, yet knows how to stay in the active social circle. He signed Droz up as a weekend host to pay him back, and as a result Tom Lawrence came to the Pit.

    Gutter (aka "Gut-man" and "Gut")
    Major: Music
Favorite Quote: "Just one hit, and I gotta go"
Possible Future Ambitions: United States Senator
    Played By: Jon Favreau
No one ever accused Gutter of being very bright. He's a heavy-metal head-thrasher who loves to do bong hits and drink beer. His favorite band is "The Merkins", yet for a music major he knows very little about music itself (as Droz said, "I don't know if you're aware of this, but there was music recorded before 1989"). He hangs out sometimes with Jerry Town, but is the third part of the Droz-Moles-Gutter trio. He is the Beer Man. His family includes Murray (his dad), Edie (his mom), and Josh (his younger bro).

    Tom Lawrence
    Year: Pre-frosh
Favorite Quote: "Hey guys, remember ME?"
    Lives in: Delaware
    Played By: Chris Young
The catalyst for the movie, Tom takes us through a blinding one-day experience visiting PCU and the Pit. He is a naive, preppy-looking 18-year-old, preparing for his college career. Unknowingly, he blunders into the war-torn campus of PCU and ends up being chased by practically every group on campus (he pisses off at least the cause-heads, Afrocentrists, Jerry Town and the computer geeks). At one point he is approached with a bid to enter the Balls and Shaft underground frat, but declines. He falls for Katy (and she for him), saves the Pit by overhearing vital information, decides to come to PCU, and joins the Pit.

    The Daves
Favorite Quote: "Let's give up, man!"
Favorite Sports: Rollerblading, skateboarding, floor hockey
    Separated: Never
Played By: Jake Beecham and Darin Heames
The Daves are a unique pair, never seen apart in the movie. They are wild, testosterone-driven males competing in everything, yet best buds to the end. At one point they installed speed bumps on the handicapped ramp as a practical joke. Both of them are infatuated (or at least like) Cil, but never get to first base.

    Pigman
    Year: Senior
Favorite Quote: "I CAN STOP WATCHING TV!!!"
Senior Thesis: Proving the Caine-Hackman Theory
    Played By: Jody Racicot
Little is given on the entity known as Pigman, other than he is some sort of communications/media major, doing his senior thesis on proving that 24-hours-a-day there is a Gene Hackman or Michael Caine movie playing on TV. He finishes his paper by seeing A Bridge Too Far, which has both actors in the same movie. Wears his pajamas and loves them.

    Katy
    Year: Freshman
Favorite Quote: "Where's the cute preppie kid?"
"Everyone Gets Laid": Lead Singer & Bass Guitar
    Played By: Megan Ward
Katy is the solitary frosh in the pit, and one of the only two girls. Bright and svelte, she takes the stage with a devilish smile and classic poses (my favorite is when she's bored and spinning around in the chair like a dead person). Katy falls for Tom, a one-day romance that blossoms, mainly because she aggressively kisses him twice. This never happens to us at all. Her most outstanding moment is when she knocked down B.D. with a placard (making the male audience hurt as well).

    Cecilia (aka "Cil" pronounced 'seal')
Favorite Quote: "Thanks, man, but I think I know how to tune my own axe!"
    "Everyone Gets Laid": Guitar
    Backup Instrument: Bongos
    Played By: Gale Mayron
Every dorm needs a caustic female, and Cil is it. Admired by the Daves, she shuns their attempts and revolves her life around her music. She'll have a sneer on her face more than a smile, but she's a dependable (wo)man in a tight spot. There's really not much more to say about her.

    Raji
Favorite Quote: "Plug my ass in!"
"Everyone Gets Laid": Guitar / Backup Vocals
Favorite TV Show: Beevis and Butt-head
    Played By: Matt Ross
Raji is paired up with Deeje, the two strangest and least-developed characters in the Pit. Sporting long curly hair, a beard, and black glasses, Raji looks like some ex-hippie. The highlight of his life was faking a seizure in front of security guards to give Droz and Gut some time to do their thing.

    Deeje
Favorite Quote: "Play Metallica, and they will come"
    "Everyone Gets Laid": Drummer
    Absolutely Hates: Working
    Played By: Stivi Paskoski
Deeje is a wimp, but he loves it. Cute in his own weak way, he is Raji's best friend and cohort in the band. The highlight of his life was faking a seizure in front of security guards to give Droz and Gut some time to do their thing.
