Larry the Cable Guy: "Git R Done!"
I come from central Kentucky, where this phrase was intensely popular with 90% of the people in my life. My husband is in the Navy, where the phrase is also very popular. So then almost everyone that I know, except me, LOVED this phrase. I wanted to stab my ears with a rusty knife every time I heard it. This phrase is the epitome of what makes an annoying catchphrase: It is intensely stupid. It's said with an annoying voice. It was plastered on every mud flap, trucker hat, cheap T-shirt and back windshield from Kentucky to California. Trust me. I know. People used the phrase for any occasion, ad nauseam. Did someone make a mistake? “Git R Done!” An accomplishment? “Git R Done” Did someone make a lewd sexual comment made about a female parental unit? “Git R Done!” I can't tell you how sorry I am for that last paragraph. It hurt me to write it as much as it hurt you to read it. Let us now begin the healing. It warms my heart to see the outpouring of hatred toward the Phrase That We Shall Not Say (28.9%). Of the nine nominations for this category only one came close. In fact it came very close. But in the end even unanimous hatred of everything related to the Star Wars prequels ("Yipee!" with 23.2%) was powerless against our venom for Larry the Cable Guy and his ilk. You made a good choice, voters. Now sit back and bask in the glow of sweet justice.
