You've seen enough slasher films to know, somewhere inside yourself, that this is the perfect point at which to throw out a little witticism to lessen the tension and to show Bill that there is surely some explanation for all this.

Unfortunately, all those slasher films don't keep you from literally biting your tongue and flinching back in surprise when the doors to theater 3 burst open and a large, hulking form storms out into the hallway, theatrically looking both left and right. When the form seems to focus on you and Bill, it turns to fully face the both of you and then stands there.

Any final urge towards witticism fully die in your throat as you take in the full form of the massive stranger, and dispassionately note that even in the darkness of the lobby it's plain to see both of the strangers hands are tightly gripping a massive fire ax.

Bill also sees it all. His vocal chords aren't quite as traumatized as yours. "Run! Everybody run!" He slams an arm into your chest, pushing you back, then turns you around and pushes you back towards the locked doors. Recovering from your initial numbness, you go along and start immediately thinking about your options. It helps that you've thought about this sort of scenario a hundred times before, leaving a scary movie late at night and pretending, just for fun, what you'd do if the villain you just watched were chasing you as you walked out to your car.

Obviously, as some other part of you politely reminds you, there's a big difference between thinking about it and living it.

Especially since you never had to worry about the safety of anything more than a beautiful female companion in your daydreams. As you and Bill rush towards the locked exit doors, the group of tired and disgruntled fellow theatergoers look at you two with minimal interest. Either they think you're kidding around or you've lost it.

As they catch a glimpse of the massive ax-wielding thing following you two, they get interested quickly. Either the entire situation up until this point has completely unnerved them, or you and Bill have plain looks of horror upon your faces, because as a group they immediately take action as if they truly believe this is real. Which it is!
