In this exciting and contageous new contest, we at MRFH challenged our readers to create works of art based off of scenes from cult films — using only art.com's ArtPad. Whilst we expected a number of stick figures and pithy Attack of the Clones quotes, what we got were often priceless pieces that we've long since printed out, laminated, and curl up with at night to bask in their glow. The 25 entries were voted on by the entire MRFH staff into four categories: most artistic, coolest, most creative and funniest. The four winners will all receive bags of MRFH swag (read: "Whatever I have lying around the apartment"). Thanks to all who took the time and effort to enter! And now, the honorable mentions and the winners!
Miho demands our attention, and bulhakov kicked off this contest with an action-packed shot of what she does best: throwing Nazi stars. If I ask "Why Nazi throwing stars?" then Drew will launch into a 400-page thesis of the matter, so I'll leave that be.
This is a terrific scene from the film where Amelie's watching a film as we watch her on film — whoa. StarOpal brings out the blues.
Helena's dark side revealed. Creepy and beautiful at the same time!
Fenella does this romance justice with a sort-of Impressionistic painting of the two lovers kissing and a midget peeping in on them.
It was a close call, but teamgorosmash's representation of The Dude was striking, sweet and sumptuous. Sumptuous? Oh, fine. I haven't even had time to put on my socks yet, and you're picking on my choice of alliteration. |
