I don't know where to begin.

This has been an incredible week in the life of MRFH, and a lot of
changes -- but for the better! -- are headed your way. For starters,
we've designed and added a whole new button bar system for the main
page. Looks better. Then, we've gone and created three new pages: the
Mutant Bios (information on us reviewers), Features (interesting
articles and the like), and What Is This? (a great introduction to our
page, funny for even you old-timers).

We have indoctrinated three great new Mutant Correspondants, who will be
helping us with their own psychotrippic reviews. Say hello to your
computer monitor for Andie, Cooter, and Sean.

Next come the reviews: a whole flood of 'em! We are celebrating Bruce
"The Man" Campbell Week by reviewing "Waxwork II: Lost In Time"
(Justin), "Evil Dead" (Justin), and "Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn"
(Cooter). In non-Bruce-related areas, Andie critiqued "The Cutting
Edge" and Sean covered "Clerks". Check all these out! Collect the
        whole set!

And (hold your breath, knock on wood) Kym is returning to send us at
least *three* new reviews by June 14th, 'cause she promised and if she
doesn't then we can all go down to Texas and beat her up. Ha - how's
        that for a reminder, Kym?

Now for a MUTANT feature article, something I'm sure you all missed from
        the last two.

BRUCE CAMPBELL, THE GUY WITH THE GUN **********

Outside of the college circuit he's rarely known, but to the thousands
of fans who are dedicated to the "Evil Dead" trilogy, and his roles on
Xena, The Warrior Princess and Brisco County, Jr., he is awed as "The
        Man."

A helluva guy, Bruce became an instant cult star with his role as Ash in
"Evil Dead". One of the goriest movies of the eighties, this movie
spawned two sequels that Bruce returned for... each getting better and
better. In "Evil Dead 2", the producers gave Ash more of a "tough-guy,
anti-hero" personality, something that suited Bruce just fine. With a
chainsaw for one hand and a shotgun in the other, Ash became a symbol
for manliness everywhere. By the time "Army of Darkness" came out, Ash
was transformed into legend. This movie hosts some of the best
one-liners you will ever hear, and some precious moments.

Ash is an idol in the college scene, his slightly-idiotic personality
overcome by his sheer bravery, chutzpah, and determination.
Surprisingly, Bruce has an extraordinary range of facial expressions
(like Jim Carrey), and he uses these to great advantages in the Evil
Dead films. His favorite performance in this series came in the second
movie when he had to attack himself with his "possessed" hand --
something Bruce did entirely by himself, with no stunt doubles.

But instead of merely remaining a "one-time wonder" (or "three times", I
guess), Bruce has gone on to a healthy career as a film and TV star.
Another Ash-like role he performed was in "Waxwork II: Lost In Time",
where he had a nice role as a butchered parapsychologist. He was in
both "Maniac Cop" movies, although he was killed off at the beginning of
the second one. A great film -- and don't you miss it -- was the
"Hudsucker Proxy", with Tim Robbins. Campbell had a nice role in it as
        a gritty reporter.

According to Bruce, his favorite role was as Brisco County, Jr., a TV
show that lasted only one season on FOX. Bruce played an Ash-like
character in the wild west, and despite hilarious performances and rave
reviews, the show was canceled (and its slot was taken by, ironically,
        "The X-Files").

Bruce keeps popping up everywhere, and he has many upcoming roles to
look forward to. "From Dusk Till Dawn: Texas Blood Money", the sequel
to the first "Dusk Till Dawn" movie (with George Clooney and Quentin
Tarintino) is coming out later this year.

For any die-hard Campbell fan, there is one hard to find must-see that
came out last year. It's a movie called "Running Time", where Bruce is
an ex-con who has to perform a perfect bank robbery in under 20 minutes.
Other than the fact that it stars Campbell, it's noteworthy that the
whole film (shot in Black and White) is one long, fluid, continuous
        shot.

Bruce is a great guy too, and is one of the few actors who communicates
regularly with his fans. You can write him a question (only ONE though)
at bcquestions@bccentral.com, and he'll respond; you can also request an
autograph (bcautograph@bccentral.com) and you will get a postcard with
his signature FREE sent to you.
