Mutants Create Their
        Dream Soundtracks

We asked each staff member here at MRFH to devise a "dream soundtrack compilation"... their favorite songs and scores from movies. Despite having a strict and rigid format for answering this, we nonetheless ended up with no two soundtracks even remotely formatted alike. And here goes:

Kyle's "James Bond Meets California Mix"

        1. "Theme from Superman (Main Title)" by John Williams – Superman (fantastically rousing theme song)
        2. "As" by Stevie Wonder – The Best Man (great love song! Stevie rules!)
        3. "Dancin’ ‘Cross the U.S.A." by Lindsey Buckingham – National Lampoon’s Vacation (my family vacations were just like this)

        17. "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" by The Police – The Wedding Singer (big finish with Sting & The Police)

        PoolMan's "Brief Yet Perfect Mix"

I suppose I'd most like to see an album of all the classic movie/TV themes. Stuff like the Star Wars theme(s), Superman, Star Trek DS9, Battlestar Galactica, Indiana Jones. Anything good and John Williams-y that takes you back to a memory. That's why I'm not so hot on using pop music for soundtracks... I associate "I'm a Believer" with the Monkees, not a CGI donkey.

Andie's "A Few Of My Choices Aren't Movies, They're TV Shows, But Deal With It Mix"

        1. "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins - Top Gun (gets me really pumped up)
        2. "Mustang Sally" by Tom Jones - Miss Congeniality (sexiness)
        3. "Lady Marmalade" by Lil Kim, Mya, Pink, Christina - Moulin Rouge (fun to sing along and slut it up to)
        4. "Everything I Do, I Do For You" by Bryan Adams - Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (one of my favorite slow songs)
        5. "Johnny Be Goode" by Marty McFly - Back to the Future (fun to dance to)
        6. "Independent Woman" by Destiny's Child - Charlie's Angels (Girl Power!)
        7. "Babysittin' Blues" by Elisabeth Shue - Adventures in Babysitting (never fails to crack me up)
        8. "Earth Angel" by Weezer - Back to the Future (another favorite slow song)
        9. "Stayin' Alive" by Bee Gees - Saturday Night Fever (fun to dance to)
        10. "Stagger Lee" by Lloyd Price - Shag the Movie (from the climactic dance sequence)
        11. "Sugar High" by Coyote Shivers - Empire Records (makes the customers all crazy-like)

        3. "Chewbacca" - Clerks (short and absolutely hilarious)
        4. "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House - The Stand (a great end-of-relationships and end-of-the-world song)
        5. "Dead Already" by Thomas Newman - American Beauty (this xylophone score is one of the best scores to narrate by)
        6. "Somewhere Out There" - American Tail (the theme song for the broken hearted hopeless romantic)
        7. "Stand By Me" by Ben King - Stand By Me (how can you not love this song?)
        8. "Axel F" - Beverly Hills Cop (I remember hearing this song as a kid, swimming in neighborhood pool... it makes me think of the 80s in a very fond way)
        9. "Dammit" by Blink 182 - Can't Hardly Wait (a frantic song, excellent for driving)
        10. "Building The Crate" - Chicken Run (one of the most rousing scores I've heard - and it has kazoos!)

        16. "Dance Hall Days" by Wang Chung - The Sure Thing (still a perfect party song)
        17. "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen - Wayne's World (strange song, but definitely memorable)

THE JOHN CUSACK COMPENDIUM (in chronological order)
        1. Tapeheads: "Slow Bus Movin' (Howard's Beach Party) - Fishbone/Ranchbone (conceivably every song on this soundtrack is worth listing, so I decided to pick one from "Clare's List of Untouchable Bands - CLUB")
        2. Say Anything : "In Your Eyes" - Peter Gabriel (the definition of the phrase "goes without saying")
        3. Grosse Pointe Blank: "Mirror In the Bathroom" - English Beat (best fight music... ever)
