MRFH Title Banners

We've had a lot of title banners for the front page of MRFH over time, and I thought it'd be a good idea to preserve them in an archive for history's sake. Also, the sake of an easy feature. Theme week banners are over at the MRFH Theme Weeks page.

The original logo of BHU (Believer Haven University) that I designed by cutting out letters from a magazine and scanning them. Nifty, eh?

One of the banners for Link Exchange, which used to be this "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" cross-internet ideas that fizzled after a couple years. The idea was, you put their little banner at the top of your page, and they'd rotate other website's ad banners, with your website's ad banner going on other site's pages.

Another one of our ad banners, this one specifically for MRFH. The slogan was one of our more popular ones — "They give Siskel & Ebert hives!" — but we retired this after Siskel died. Note the gray film strip to the left — that was the original background image of MRFH, and the only evidence we have left of what the page first looked like (thank goodness!). I have no idea why the image is this screwed up, but oh well.

The final Link Exchange banner we have. Poor picture from Psycho.

This was the long running title banner/link banner we used, featuring lil' pictures from Army of Darkness, Clerks, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, The Breakfast Club, Holy Grail, and PCU. "Masters of the Cult Universe" was the motto chosen by the Motto Contest we had a while back.

DnaError designed this banner for the Alien Takeover of the site. "Now with cruel alien control"

The altered title banner for PoolMan's Mutant Reviewers From Canada. "We rule now, eh?"

Another great DnaError design, this one had to be discontinued after the staff change in 2003.

DnaError paid homage to MST3K with this pretty cool title banner. I'm the guy on the cellphone.

I had a lot of fun with this banner, hunting down sprites of 8-bit (old Nintendo and Sega) games based off of movies. See if you can't figure out which films each character comes from, and then go blind from looking at tiny, tiny pixels!

This was a "sequel" to the above banner. I was trying to find 16-bit (SNES, Sega Genesis) images from films, but I left this alone after pasting in the Alien3 images. I don't think this was ever posted on the front page, tho.

I was experimenting with the idea of using movie posters shaded black and white in the background, with the green MRFH logo in front. Although kinda fun to do, these ended up not very attractive or easy to read.
