Old School

1. Vince looks like he’s late for his train. Maybe it’s the “love train?”

2. It’s the angle that makes it funny. If it was straight and parallel to “School” it would look foreboding and too adult. But at a rakish angle, it’s just like college. Fraternities rule!

3. See, he looks like a tank. Hence: “Frank the Tank.” Sure, we never see this exact pose in the film. But it makes the poster memorable.

4. Real tanks shoot missile shells. Frank the Tank just shoots beer. A lot of beer.

5. At first, it’s hard to tell if he’s an extra or a cast member. But then you notice the afro and go “oh, yeah, it’s Spanish!”

6. Either our boys are slowing down, or the girls are speeding up. Or maybe, like all beautiful creatures, college girls just move too fast for the human eye to properly register?

7. I think it would have been funny if they had misspelled “education” here. But that kind of thinking kept me in college for 7 years. Oh yeah!

8. Either they were trying to emulate the old-time look of black&white films, or the entire poster is colored slightly rusty so that it appears it’s being viewed through a big ol’ mug of beer. Which, if intentional, is possibly THE GREATEST IDEA EVER.
